While visiting Shelburne Farms in Shelburne, Vermont, I was taken aback by this scene and knew I had to paint it. It was a warm September day and the abstract shapes of land, light and shadow seemed to fall perfectly into place. It was like a puzzle. The tree on the knoll was what caught my eye initially.

I love this painting because it gives me such a feeling of peace every time I look at it.
